Warburton Franki Limited began at 313 Kent-street, Sydney in 3/11/1910.
The Managing Directors were G. S. Warburton and Robert James Napier Franki
(R. J. N. Franki).

Warburton Franki was considered an industry leader in the supply and manufacture of electrical devices.

These ranged from Current Transformers, Variac Transformers, Controllers, Meters, Timers & Time Switches.

In 1933 Warburton Franki secured the right to produce Frigidaire electric refrigerators in Australia.

Warburton Franki commenced manufacturing Kilowatt Hour Meters in 1937 which were used throughout Australia.

From its humble beginnings in 1901 when G. S. Warburton acquired Shepherd & Warburton and registered G S Warburton & Company. The partnership of G.S. Warburton and R.J.N. Franki (Warburton Franki Company) then registered Warburton Franki Limited on 3-11-1910.

During the period from 1910 to 1982 Warburton Franki Limited diversified and acquired a number of businesses to complement its commercial enterprise of manufacturing, importing, wholesale and retail.

On the 11-6-1970 Warburton Franki Limited was renamed and registered as Warburton O'Donnell Limited. On the 13-10-1982 Warburton O'Donnell Limited was taken over by Comeng Holding Limited, on 9-32-1983 by Australian National Industries Limited and the on 17-3-1999 by Smorgon Steel Group Limited.
