From January 1900 G. S. Warburton served as a cadet with the Postal and Electric Telegraph Department in the Electrician's Branch of the Head Office. He resigned on Mon 14th May 1900.
Circa early 1901 G.S. Warburton joined Shepherd & Warburton electrical engineers, 94 Pitt-street, Sydney. The business specialised in supplying and installing Electric Lighting and Generating Plants to Creameries, Factories, Mills, Stores, and Private Establishments. These electric systems were replacing the superseded the old fashioned kerosene lamps.
Later in 1901 G. S. Warburton acquired Shepherd & Warburton then registered and formed G S Warburton & Company.
June 1903 G. S. Warburton and Co. Electrical Engineers in partnership with Robert James Napier Franki (R. J. N. Franki A.I.E.E.) Registered and formed Warburton Franki and Company.
Warburton Franki Co ended when the partnership of G.S. Warburton and R.J.N. Franki (Warburton Franki Company) Registered Warburton Franki Limited and became the Managing Directors of Warburton Franki Limited at 313 Kent-street, Sydney on 3/11/1910 New South Wales under the Limited Liabilty Act.
Installed an electric lighting system in two new ferry steamers on a lager scale of the Kirribilli and Carabella type. Installed an electric lighting system in the new coastal steamer the "Dorrigo" an intermediate Steamer of the Nicoll line that will carry passengers and cargo between Sydney and Byron Bay. Installed an electric lighting system using the latest improved Westinghouse combined engine and dynamo to supply 93 lights in the new ferry steamer "Koree". |
